Ci\u00f2 consente l&#8217;accesso al cristallino naturale. Il taglio misura, nel caso del nostro intervento, solo 2,0 mm. Si procede quindi a una capsuloressi, ovvero a un&#8217;apertura circolare della capsula che riveste il cristallino. Con una sonda ad ultrasuoni il cristallino opacizzato viene frantumato e quindi rimosso senza problemi con uno speciale aspiratore. Questa metodica si chiama facoemulsificazione. Per concludere viene inserito il cristallino artificiale nella capsula ormai vuota.
